Whitestone, New York

Located in the quaint suburban neighborhood of Whitestone in Queens, this design build location satisfied our clients need for a family neighborhood feel. With front lawns and driveways on each street, it was up to Node AEC to create their custom forever home. A unique situation presented itself when our team began design prior to the client closing on the property.  With a proactive client, and fast working team, we were able to submit our first filing only two months later.

Some unique 'green' features are taken into account for the design.  As we always try to enforce Passive House principles into our projects, this home will consist of triple insulated air tight windows for superior indoor air quality. We will implement an ERV (Energy Recover Ventilation) System to aid in the indoor air quality.  Our client agreed to use Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) for the exterior of the home which prevents air leakage through walls increasing energy efficiency.  Solar panels will be added to the rooftop to further aide in energy conservation and sustainable living.

Just under 4,500 square feet, this luxury design build home consists of two floors plus a cellar.  The main living space hosts an open concept layout with living and dining space open to the kitchen, and a main floor half bath. The bedrooms are located on the second floor with a master suite, three additional bedrooms and a full bathroom.  The cellar has laundry, a recreational space, another full bathroom and storage.  A unique part of the design includes a wet bar, outdoor shower and firepit located on the home's roof with city views!

Some other interesting features worth noting are the natural light for the cellar provided by a patio with skylight.  Also, the rectangular shape on the front elevation frames the balcony and breezeway.  Double height open stairs and double height windows add tons of natural light throughout the home with an exit to a Summer kitchen in the back yard.
